OASIS have been rehearsing with RINGO STARR’s son on drums.
The group, who are without a drummer following the departure of Alan White earlier this year, are said to be putting together a supergroup with Zak Starkey behind the kit.
Noel and Liam, guitarist Gem Archer and Starkey are rumoured to be supporting Stereophonics when they play a charity gig in support of the Teenage Cancer Trust at the London Royal Albert Hall later this month (March 30).
Oasis are set to go back into their own studio shortly to continue work on the follow-up to ’Heathen Chemistry’. Death In Vegas, who produced early sessions for the record, ,
DAVID BYRNE
Album Title: Grown Backwards
Producer(s): David Byrne, Patrick Dillett
Label/Catalog Number: Nonesuch 79826
Release Date: March 16
Source: Billboard Magazine
Originally Reviewed: March 20, 2004
For his first Nonesuch outing, David Byrne offers a series of intimate songs in which his voice takes center stage, framed by a diverse group of accompanists, from jazz composer/ pianist Carla Bley's band to French horn virtuoso Philip Meyers. The panoply makes for an eclectic mix that typifies Byrne's polymath musical interests. Best cuts include "Tiny Apocalypse" and a wry cover of Lambchop's "The Man Who Loved Beer." Adding to the pastiche feeling of "Grown Backwards," Byrne has plucked two standards from the operatic repertoire: "Un dì Felice Eterea" from Verdi's "La Traviata," sung in ghastly Italian, and—partnering with Rufus Wainwright—"Au Fond du Temple Saint" from Bizet's "Les Pêcheurs de Perles," delivered in awkward French. Despite the language gaffes, Byrne's delivery is sweet, tender and instantly endearing.

Bowie Takes 'Diamond Dogs' For A Stroll
David Bowie's 1974 album "Diamond Dogs" will be reissued in expanded form June 15 via Virgin. The new edition will feature a second disc of rare tracks and demos, including the 2003 re-recording of the album's hit single, "Rebel Rebel," which appeared on the "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" soundtrack.
The 30th anniversary edition will be housed in a gatefold replica of the controversial album art, which featured Bowie transformed as a dog. "Diamond Dogs" was inspired by George Orwell's "1984" and found Bowie working without his backing band, the Spiders From Mars. The group's final recording, "1984/Dodo," kicks off the new editions' second disc.
Other rarities earmarked for the album include a rare U.S. single edit of "Rebel Rebel," a stand-alone version of "Dodo" that was intended as a duet with Lulu, a cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Growin' Up" with Ron Wood on lead guitar, the non-album cut "Alternative Candidate" and a K-tel edit of "Diamond Dogs."
As previously reported, Columbia will on March 23 release expanded reissues of the '90s Bowie albums "Outside," "Earthling" and "Hours." The artist's ongoing A Reality tour resumes March 29 in Philadelphia.
